About Red Mole
Red Mole aims to bridge the gap between the revolutionary movements of the 20th century and today's activists. We believe the experiences, strategies, and theoretical insights of past struggles hold invaluable lessons for those fighting for a better world in the 21st century.
Our team, composed of socialist activists supported by cutting-edge AI tools, works to make these historical materials accessible and relevant. We translate, summarise, analyse, and discuss texts from revolutionary socialist traditions, bringing to light the successes, failures, and ongoing debates that shaped the past. By leveraging tools for transcription, translation, and text analysis, we're able to process vast archives and present them in engaging formats, including podcasts and concise articles.
Red Mole is more than just an archive; it's a living project. We produce original content informed by these historical insights, with first drafts often generated in conversation with private AI models trained on our extensive collection. These drafts are then rigorously finalised by experienced socialist editors, ensuring accuracy and depth. Our goal is to equip contemporary activists with the theoretical grounding and practical understanding necessary to navigate the complexities of today's struggles.
Our approach to AI
All content on Red Mole is produced by socialist activists supported by artificial intelligence tools, both open and closed. We're using tools like Descript and Notta to transcribe and translate materials, creating podcasts with Notebook, and training a series of private LLMs on an extensive archive of materials. First drafts of articles on the site are produced in conversation with these private models, and are finalised by experienced socialist editors. Nothing is published without human review.
If you'd like to join the editorial team, or if your Fourth International organization would like to access one of our models, let us know.
Our Advisory Board
Red Mole’s Advisory Board helps guide our direction and ensure we're best serving the needs of 21st-century activists. Their insights are incredibly valuable.
The Advisory Board has a crucial role in:
Providing oversight and feedback on the site's content and overall direction.
Suggesting new topics and materials from revolutionary socialist traditions that you believe would resonate with our audience.
Offering sound judgment and mediation on any complaints or significant issues that might arise, helping us maintain our integrity and focus.
This is a voluntary role, involving occasional communication and a few virtual meetings a year, depending on the board's collective preference. Their pooled expertise can help make Red Mole an even more effective resource for revolutionary movements today. The founding board members are:
